Laurel Health Hosts Free Spring Enrollment Event April 7

By Kristy Warren

In need of health coverage or struggling to find the right health plan for you and your family? The healthcare marketplace has re-opened for a special spring enrollment period now through May 15, 2021 on Pennie.com. Have questions or need help nagivating the marketplace?

To help people sign up for health insurance, the Laurel Health Centers are holding a free enrollment event by appointment on April 7 from 8 am - 2 pm at the Lawrenceville Laurel Health Center. You don’t have to be a health center patient to use this free service. Appointments are available by phone or in-person but must be made in advance by calling 570-723-3424. All onsite visits will follow Laurel Health’s strict COVID-19 prevention protocols, and participants will be given pre-registration instructions for their arrival, including masking and pre-screening for symptoms.

WHAT IS OPEN ENROLLMENT?

Open enrollment refers to the time period when anyone can sign up for marketplace healthcare coverage or change their health insurance plan, as opposed to having to qualify for a special enrollment period (e.g., losing a job and its associated healthcare coverage). Individual and family plans are offered through the marketplace. PA residents can shop for health insurance plans through the new state insurance exchange Pennie.com. It aims to improve health coverage for Pennsylvanians by lowering healthcare costs and plan premiums to make health insurance more affordable for both individuals and families.

“Our goal is to help everyone find a health plan that is a good fit. If you are struggling to find a health plan that’s a good fit for you and your family, want to address a change in your coverage needs, or need help navigating the new Pennsylvania insurance marketplace, the Laurel Health Centers are here to help,” adds Carla Westlake, LHC certified application counselor.

If you cannot attend the April 7th enrollment event, simply call 570-723-3424 to arrange another appointment at your convenience; enrollment help is available throughout the full enrollment period, and counselors are available year-round to assist with other insurance coverage questions.
