Blossburg LHC to Host Pop-up COVID-19 Testing Event Dec. 13

By Kristy Warren

In response to community need, the Laurel Health Centers have quickly organized another pop-up COVID-19 testing event for Monday, Dec. 13 from 1 pm – 3 pm in the parking lot behind the Blossburg Laurel Health Center (6 Riverside Plaza). Attendees must pre-register by calling our centralized scheduling number: 570-724-1010.

Anyone who thinks they may have been exposed to COVID-19 or is currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms is encouraged to sign up. This public testing event is open to everyone; you do not have to be an LHC patient to attend.

If you need a COVID-19 test but cannot attend this public event, call 1-833-LAURELHC (1-833-528-7354) to request a test at the LHC location of your choice. Note: When requesting an individual testing appointment at our locations, you will receive a telemedicine visit with an LHC provider prior to testing so the provider can accurately evaluate your symptoms / exposure and determine which type of test should be ordered (e.g., point-of-care test or PCR swab) as well as when it should be conducted.

COVID-19 cases are at an all-time high in Tioga County. The best way to protect yourself is to schedule your COVID-19 vaccine. Laurel Health's medical professionals strongly advise that everyone 5 and up be vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their community against severe illness, hospitalization, and death caused by the increasingly dangerous COVID-19 variants. Click here to sign up for your COVID-19 vaccine online.

Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is the key to truly getting back to normal. The vaccine teaches your body how to recognize, prepare for, and fight off the virus more effectively, nearly eliminating the recipient’s risk of developing serious illness, chronic long-haul symptoms, hospitalization, or death. What's more, the vaccine helps protect the recipient and those around them because once enough of the community is vaccinated, it becomes much more difficult for the virus to spread widely, develop new mutated strains, and harm loved ones.

Laurel Health is now offering all three Coronavirus COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen) at their locations throughout Tioga and Bradford Counties, including pediatric Pfizer vaccine for those aged 5 – 11, the Pfizer vaccine dosage approved for those aged 12 – 17, and Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine for everyone 18 and up. To schedule your COVID-19 vaccine with us, click here to sign up online or call 1-833-LAURELHC (1-833-528-7354) and select the center of your choice.

Patients should still receive a COVID-19 vaccine even if they’ve previously had COVID-19, as studies indicate the vaccines confer stronger, broader, and longer-lasting protection than naturally acquired immunity.
