Laurel Health is pleased to announce that Katie Lutz, certified physician assistant (PA-C), has joined the team and is accepting new patients of all ages at the Mansfield Laurel Health Center, located at 416 South Main St. in Mansfield, PA.

Katie Lutz is board certified in family medicine and specializes in both preventive wellness care and treating acute or chronic health conditions. She is passionate about improving access to comprehensive care in rural areas so that patients receive the care they need quickly and close to home. 

“I’ve been interested in a career in healthcare since I was little—I remember pretending to listen to my mom’s heart with a toy stethoscope and putting Band-Aids on everyone!” Katie shares. “What I enjoy most about medicine is interacting with my patients. When my patients place their trust in me, it reassures me that I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to be doing.”

She has experience in both inpatient and outpatient care, including family medicine, long-term care at skilled nursing facilities, and inpatient hospitalist programs.

Katie received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Penn State University’s Eberly College of Science at University Park, PA as a Schreyer Honors College scholarship recipient. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, PA, and her Master of Science in Medical Science from Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA

She also spent a semester interning at a medical clinic in Barcelona, Spain, shadowing physicians and nurses across a series of medical specialties while advancing her knowledge of delivering care in a second language.

“I chose Laurel Health because I want to be part of making high-quality healthcare more accessible in rural areas. I’m passionate about ensuring my patients have the care they need and are up to date with their wellness screenings and annual exams,” Katie explains. “I love the variety of family medicine and using my expertise to improve a patient’s health, whether that’s assessing a patient during a wellness exam, suturing a cut, or delivering a joint injection.”

In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, reading, enjoying the outdoors, and spending quality time with her husband, their eight-month-old baby, and their two dogs.
