Dentist Melody DeMatteis, DMD, has joined the Laurel Dental Blossburg office, located at 116 Seymour Street in Blossburg, PA. Dr. DeMatteis provides comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages through diagnostic evaluations and preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry. Her childhood dentist inspired her to pursue a career in dentistry. “My dentist growing up was a strong role model and a great mentor, and I was lucky enough to shadow her at a Salvation Army dental center, which piqued my interest in providing care to underserved communities,” explains Dr. DeMatteis. “I knew I wanted to pursue a career in general dentistry and to specifically focus on providing those services to increase access to dental care.” 

Dr. DeMatteis earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Youngstown State University in Ohio and her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in Pennsylvania.

“I love the blend of science, art, and public health that dental medicine is!” Dr. DeMatteis shares. “I'm particularly passionate about patient education, especially taking extra time with my patients to fully discuss their care and all of their treatment options, so they are empowered in their treatment decision making.”

In her free time, Dr. DeMatteis enjoys concerts, short hikes, and a friendly game of pickleball.
