Laurel Health is excited to announce that Nicole Doan, board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner (WHNP-BC), has joined the Laurel Health Centers. She is currently accepting new patients of all ages at the Mansfield and Wellsboro Laurel Health Centers.  

Nicole Doan is board certified in women's health and specializes in both preventive wellness care and treating acute or chronic health conditions. She is passionate about providing sensitive, intuitive, and holistic women’s healthcare. Alongside gynecologist Dr. Michael Scalzone, she is working diligently to expand Laurel Health’s women’s health program with a focus on patient education and proactive wellness outreach.

From an early age, she wanted to contribute to her community’s well-being and make a tangible difference in people’s lives, so pursuing a career in healthcare was a natural fit.

“Having grown up in a rural area, I understand the unique healthcare challenges our communities face and am passionate about addressing those disparities,” Nicole shares. “I saw firsthand the importance of providing specialized care for women in rural areas. Educating women about their bodies at each stage of life, particularly during adolescence and early adulthood, is something I find incredibly rewarding, as it empowers them with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their health."

Nicole Doan received her Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing from Western Governors University in Utah and her Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing & Women’s Health from Frontier Nursing University in Kentucky.

Through Laurel’s women’s health initiative, specialists like Nicole Doan and Dr. Scalzone collaborate with Laurel Health’s family medicine team to provide additional support, screenings, and faster access to care. This program provides comprehensive and specialized healthcare for those with breasts, cervixes, and/or ovaries as well as for people who have had hysterectomies or mastectomies.

Nicole and Dr. Scalzone provide comprehensive women’s health screenings, well visits, pap tests, and evaluations for cervical, reproductive, and breast health. They treat a wide range of gynecologic conditions and concerns like:

• Incontinence
• Peri-menopausal and post-menopausal problems
• Abnormal bleeding
• Follow-up care for abnormal pap tests
• Prolapse
• Complex contraceptive management
• Family planning
• Reproductive health
• Post-natal and post-partum care for new mothers
• Pelvic pain, including endometriosis 
• Viral, fungal, and bacterial infections, including conditions and symptoms often sparked by infection such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
• Sexually transmitted illnesses, conditions, and diseases (e.g., herpes, chlamydia, human papillomavirus (HPV), syphilis, genital warts, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis, etc.)

In her free time, she prioritizes spending time with family and friends and enjoys exploring the outdoors, skiing, and boating.

Nicole is now seeing patients at the Mansfield Laurel Health Center, located at 416 South Main St., in Mansfield, PA, and Wellsboro Laurel Health Center, located at 7 Water St. in Wellsboro, PA.
